Due to the large influx of new membership applications, MASH is in need of volunteers to help keep up with the number of necessary home inspections.
Become a volunteer inspector if you’d like to help us in our mission of ensuring Minnesotans in recovery have access to safe and stable housing. Experience with recovery housing preferred but not required.
A typical day as a volunteer involves:
Claiming whichever inspection assignments you’d like to take on
Communicating with the home operator to schedule an inspection
Travelling to the home and conducting the inspection
Conducting a resident interview
Communicating to MASH staff that you’ve completed the assignment
What’s expected of you as a volunteer:
You must conduct inspections with professionalism and impartiality
You must disclose any potential conflicts of interest to MASH before conducting an inspection
If you have a substance use disorder, you must be continuously sober for at least 1 year and remain sober during volunteer activities.
You must complete your training which will involve observing an established inspector conduct 3 inspections, then conducting 2 inspections with the established inspector observing you.
There is no minimum amount of inspections needed to be done per month or year for you to remain a volunteer. You can take on whatever amount of assignments that you are able to.
